Painting Nights!
Each month we host several paint nights. We have a "classic" Paint Night that celebrates the magic of famous impressionist and post-impressionist painters like Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, and Henri Matisse. Book 2 people for $60 with code paintpair.
We also host Paint Your Pet when we pre-draw your canvas with your favorite pet or animal, which (psst) could be our most fun event! $65 per artist.

Every 6 or 7 weeks, we launch a painting series in watercolor, acrylic, or oil paint for absolutely beginners. Adult Painting Classes in San Diego FAQs
What painting techniques can I learn in these classes?
In our acrylic and oil painting series, you will learn all the foundations for thoughtful painting. We use under painting to provide our images with a rich tonal base and as a way to take over that boring white canvas. We color mix with pallet knives and learn about tint (adding white), shade (adding black), the importance of maintaining chroma (not mixing white or black), and tone. From there, series techniques vary. One series may focus on layering transparent glazes while another focuses on exclusively thick brushstrokes that are left on the canvas unblended.
How long does each painting class last?
Usually painting series are offered as a 6 class series of 6 weekly 2-hour classes. Once in a while, to work around holiday breaks, we change this to a 5 class series with 2.5-hour classes.
Can I be a total beginner and sign up for class?
Absolutely! Our classes are all designed for absolute beginners. You can take painting without ever having painted or drawn and visa versa. Our classes also welcome artists who’ve taken a hiatus from art who want it back in their lives. Our teachers are experienced in catering to students with a range of experience.
What "school of thought" do you use to approach teaching?
Our experienced teaching artists love sharing “master” art school techniques with you so you have a tried and true foundation to build on. Literally and figuratively. These methods will elevate your creative process, no mater your medium. We aim to elevate your expectations and prove to you, making art can be really natural. Art belongs to you!
What should I wear to a painting class?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a bit of paint on, that will not wash out. While we do provide aprons, painting can still be a little messy, especially when you’re deeply immersed in creativity!
